Want to help test the GH2 in L.A. this Sunday April 15th, 2012?

This coming Sunday I will be heading out to do one of the largest and most controlled GH2 settings tests to date. Ideally, we would like to see how all the current options (factory settings, Driftwood Sedna, etc.) compare against each other, but we cannot do it without help.

So far three (EDIT: seven) other L.A. cinematographers have volunteered their time and equipment for the test. If you live in the greater Los Angeles area (Pasadena and SGV residents, this means you too for instance) and want to come help or if you have cameras, tripods, lenses, expo discs, or memory cards you wouldn’t mind lending for the day, we would love to have you there.

OR if you have other video DSLRs/video cameras you want to bring to compare to the GH2, now is your chance. Just e-mail me at PasadenaPulse@Gmail.com

I’ll come out and help with your test. I’m an aspiring director/operator.

The results of the test were that environmental variances and setup times created too many variations to make the clips useful for comparison. We went back to the drawing board to create a new form of test but the rate of new hacked setting releases has been so high as to make additional testing seem premature.

If people still want to see the footage, I will try to post: but be aware that it will look more like a showcase than a comparison and newer hacked settings have been released since then.

It was a grand experiment in testing – unfortunately it could not produce the data intended in this case.
